SLC Preparation

OVERVIEW


What is an SLC? SLC stands for Student Led Conferences. Rather than parent-teacher conferences at Animas High School, we do Student Led Conferences. This is an opportunity for you to communicate with your parents about what you have been learning, what is going well for you at school, and what goals you would like to set for yourself in order to improve.



HABITS NOTECARD STRUCTURE

1. Notecard 1 Presentation Overview

a. Welcome your parents to your presentation and briefly summarize what you will be doing in this presentation



2. Notecard 2 Habits Strength

a. Describe which habit is your greatest strength and why

b. Show at least two pieces of supporting evidence for your habit



3. Notecard 3 Habits Refinement

a. Describe the habit that needs the most refinement and why

b. Show at least two pieces of supporting evidence that would be improved with better application of that habit



HUMANITIES NOTECARD STRUCTURE



1. Notecard 1: Introduction

a. How do you feel you are doing in Humanities overall?

b. Explain how you have (or have not) connected to the course content.



2. Notecard 2: Writing: Strength(s)

a. What do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer?

b. Explain using EVIDENCE from your essay.



3. Notecard 3: Writing Refinement

a. What do you need to work on most to improve your writing?

b. What have you learned about your own writing process?



4. Notecard 4: Connections to Reading

a. Discuss something that we have read in this class that you have connected to or that has made an impact on you.

b. Be specific; explain how the reading changed or broadened or challenged your perspective.



5. Notecard 5: Grade

a. What is your grade? Are you happy with this grade or do you wish to improve it? If the latter, what is your plan to do so?

b. What are your long term goals for Humanities?
