Seminar Prep

1.  In groups:  Discuss "Myths and Facts About Meat Production."
  • What parts of the argument are strong and convincing and why?
  • Where does the argument break down for you and why?

2.  "Food Miles and Packaging:  A Contrarian View." by Aaron Brody
  • Read and annotate critically with the seminar prep questions in mind.  How can you use this article as evidence for either question?

Homework Seminar Prep Questions
1.  Craft an argument that is pro-industrial food using evidence from class texts.
2.  Craft an argument that is anti-industrial food using evidence from class texts.
*You may use The Omnivore's Dilemma, Food, Inc, "Myths and Facts about Meat Production,"  "Food Miles and Packaging" or anything else we have read as part of our food study.
*You should refer to textual evidence at least twice per question.
